## Finding

A compliment can turn fragrance into a moment of connection. But plenty of people wear it for their own enjoyment, and do not want their scent to fill the room.

Accounts of compliments sit alongside a wish for something more personal and close to the skin. At work or in shared spaces, consideration for other people also shapes what someone wears.

Counterpoint: Large discussion threads explicitly question influencer 'compliment beast' claims. Positive recognition coexists with complaints about strong gym/office fragrance; a compliment is not evidence that more projection is better.

Tell the story behind a real compliment or a shared scent memory, rather than promising that a fragrance will attract attention. Include the pleasure of enjoying it just for yourself.

I rarely believe those posts on socials about “most complimented scents” because nobody ever stopped me to tell me I smelled good… until today! A mum at the local toddler swim class came up to me to tell me I smelled delicious.
